Red Dead Redemption 2 is much more than a game; Take-Two Interactive announced its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025, ending June 30, 2024, with updates on sales of its most popular games. While Grand Theft Auto 5 sales remained steady at 200 million units (the same as at the end of the previous quarter), Red Dead Redemption 2 saw a significant increase.

October 26th 2024 marked the sixth anniversary of the release of Rockstar's open-world crime game, Red Dead Redemption, which was released in 2018.

The game offered a focused and unforgettable narrative experience, considered by some to be among the best in gaming history, both in terms of narrative and graphics. Despite targeting last-generation platforms, it reached a level that most current-generation games have not yet reached.

Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2, released in 2018, sold more than 65 million units, up from the nearly 64 million units sold through the end of the previous quarter. Despite the end of support for Red Dead Online, the game's multiplayer component, Take-Two said it "continued to engage its audience" by offering free creator-inspired outfits and monthly rewards.

As Take-Two continues to deliver strong financial performance, even with older titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, investors and gamers are looking forward to future updates, especially around the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, expected in fall 2025. The company will maintain its strategy of attracting consumers through frequent and diverse gaming content, strengthening its position in the gaming industry.
