Codemasters has released a new update for F1 22, version 1.17, which fixes a number of issues and improves overall performance. Most importantly, however, is the addition of AMD FSR 2.2, which increases the game's performance by at least 10%!

We tested the game after the update on an AMD RX 7900 XT, and it turned out that AMD FSR 2.2 provided us with a decent frame rate increase. We tested the game in several ways at 4K resolution with the highest possible graphics settings.

First, we tested it without any upscaling, with anti-aliasing enabled on TAA, and we got 48 frames per second.

We then tested it on AMD FSR 1.0 in Balanced mode, and we got 96 frames per second.

We then tested it on AMD FSR 2.2 in Balanced mode, and we got 109 frames per second.

Finally, we tested it on Performance mode, and we got 121 frames per second. Although the performance gain isn't huge, FSR 2.2 offers better image smoothing and resolution, with performance improved by at least approximately 12%!

FSR 2.2 uses a completely new temporal upscaling algorithm, which replaces the spatial algorithm found in the original version of FSR. AMD has incorporated several other features into the second version of its upscaling technology, including measures to reduce bad shading on fast-moving objects. Of course, any upscaling technology, such as AMD FSR or Nvidia DLSS, completely eliminates the need for regular anti-aliasing in TAA mode, for example.

Overall, the new version of AMD FSR offers improved performance with a graphical upgrade that makes the image clearer and more beautiful, and we can't wait to see the addition of FSR 2.2 in more new games.
